What Causes Spotting Post Menstruation?

I had my period last week and now I am having brownish spotting and if I move around more it will become redder but nothing comes out. It is only when I wipe. I have had this for 3 days and I m worried that I could be pregnant. Is there a way my doctor can tell if I am already pregnant?
