What Causes Spotting Post Unprotected Sex?

Hi, my husband and i had sex and our condom broke. it happened two weeks ago now i have pregnancy symptoms but then i had bleeding for two days but i was only bleeding when i went to the restroom and i wear a pad and it was clean or i had spotting. i did a pregnancy test today in the morning and it came out negative. is it a false negative? or what can it be? why did i have such short period if im not pregnant?
