What Causes Spotting To Heavy Bleeding During Menstruation?

i am overweight, i get my period regular but my last one was weird it was really light barely any blood on my tampon then on the 3rd day there was a couple of clots then a little bit heavy, then the 4th and 5th days it went back to hardly and blood. what could be wrong with me?
