What Causes Spotting With Clots?

I have had spotting for 2 weeks on/off, I have had a blood test (not premenopausal) my period was due on the 18h Feb-no show. The spotting can vary from streaked blood in with discharge to more red with tiny clots but not heavy at all (thimble full-if that)
