What Causes Spotting With Delayed Periods?

Hi, I am a little concerned due to the fact I am around 11 days late for my period. I have taken pregnancy tests but all are negative. Just before my period I had brown spotting for about a week, which was very little and only when i used the bathroom. Please help.
