What Causes Spotting?

I have been experiencing many pregnancy symptoms, I'm a couple days late, but spotted yesterday and today I see brown discharge on the toilet paper but none on my panty liner. Could I be pregnant? Its 15 days since I had unprotected sex. My last period was around 4/28
