What Causes Stabbing Pain In My Chest?

i had an accident when i was younger in which i fell off a snowboard and landed on my hand which forced my elbow into my ribs. i thought they where broken so i took it easy for a while but ever since then i cant lay on my left side or i get a pain and sometimes stabbing pain in my left side of my chest right by my bicep. what could be the cause?
