What Causes Sticky Mucus In The Nostrils?

for the past 4 or 5 months my nose has been stopped up with sticky like mucus, and it keeps me frm breathing well because my nostril are like stuck together, (or closed) because of the mucus, what could cause mucus to be sticky? and how can it be treated??
