What Causes Stiffness Of Chest Bone Area With History Of Broken Ribs?

I have one to two possible broken ribs on my left side. I am a 26 yr old male. I have recently noticed that my upper abdomen right near the base of the or the bottom of my chest bone area is verry bloted looking and stiff to the touch. Is this normal in rib fractures? Or what could be caseing this?
