What Causes Stinging Of Penis While Swimming?

I was swimming in the ocean and twice today I caught big waves and swam/rode them in and afterwards I experienced a stinging sensation in/on my penis. It doesn't hurt at any other time. This happened a few weekends ago too doing the same activity. Can you tell me what might be causing this sensation?
