What Causes Stinging Sensation Due To Implanon?

I have had my implanon for over a year now and for a few weeks now it randomly stings. I have all the symptoms of being pregnant, every since I had it put in. Mood swings, odd cravings, weight gain, no period. This I can live with, but do you have any explanation as to why it has started to sting? Many thanks
