What Causes Stinging Sensation In Urethra During Urination?

I have stinging sensation during urination in my urethra, urine is not cloudy, no discharge. I have had it for approx 10 days. Im male. My wife says she now has stinging sensation during urination. we had sex 5 days ago. I thought maybe uti, so I took 5 days of Bactrim ds. Hasnt changed. any suggestions?
