What Causes Stomach Cramps After Having Contraceptive Pills?

Hello. My period was due to start next week and I have started taking the pill yesterday. I have now woken up with cramps like the first day of my period. Does this matter? Should I continue taking the pill? I also didn t take the first pill in the pack, I took it a week in so it was the same day I was taking it.
