What Causes Stoppage In Periods?

I am on birth control and as of this Sunday I am on my sugar pills. Last night my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex and had an accident. Since I haven't started my period yet we decided to go get the Plan B pill. I took the first pill, now I am concerned if it was ok to so do when I am already on birth control. What do I do now?
