What Causes Stoppage In Periods?

My girlfriend messed up her birthcontrol. Hasn't had a period in 7 weeks but has her same symptoms to have one but one hasn't come yet. This has happened to her before but we are both nervous. What should we do? She hasn't had any signs of being pregnant but many sign of haveing a period. What should we do?
