What Causes Strong Cramping Pain Every 5 Mins During Pregnancy?

I am pregnant. I am due on the 6th of February. I am getting strong cramping pains every 5 minutes. I went to the hospital earlier but got sent home and told im only 2 cm and to relax and drink water. I can bearly type because of how strong the pain is.. why am i in so much pain?
