What Causes Sudden Appearance Of Burn Like Mark Above Eye?

A burn-like mark has appeared above my father s eye overnight. It does not hurt, but it looks like someone punched punched him in the eye. I cannot find anything online that resembles this. Should he be concerned? Will this likely go away? This is not a spot, it is a mark about 3mm in length and 2mm in width.
