What Causes Sudden Choking, Vomiting And Excessive Crying In Child?

Hi, My three year old was making some funny noises I ran in and he was choking, I was able to bring up the apple which is what I thought he choked on. He vomited and persisted to cry, I was unable to make any sense of what he was saying until he explained he swilled a gold coin! He seems fine, in fact he has fallen asleep. I am worried. Do I take him to the hospital? Doctors?
