What Causes Sudden Choking With Trachea Closing Up?

Once in a while I will suddenly start choking, It sometimes happens when I'm talking to someone or just sitting and relaxingl. It sort of feels like my trachea has suddenly closed up. I cough and wheez during these "episods", most times its quite desperate.
