What Causes Sudden Elevation In BP?

My husband s pressure has mysteriously spiraled out of control for a full week now. He is currently on Amloc 10mg daily, and Pariet 20mg. (This is despite his prescription mess being changed about 3 times in the past few weeks, in an attempt to correct the problem.) It gets worse at night, and he s been struggling to sleep. We were however, advised to use some homeopathic sleeping capsules by Ultima (for the past 2 days) to help calm his body and mind during the night. The BP remains high (Ranging 146/97 - 175/110) and still keeps him up. He is not aware of anything that could be stressing him currently, is not over-weight, is fairly active, recent blood tests and CT scan all clear.... Could it be something external affecting him (cleaning products/ washing powder, maybe)? We have not changed anything at all recently, though. Following some research, we are now even stricter with our diet, but this does not seem to help.
