What Causes Sudden Increase In Blood Pressure?

I've been told I was border line high blood pressure, but all of a sudden it has spiked up to 184/107 and such. It has been about 2-3 days. I do not have chest pains but have been with a headache, eyes blurry, short pain throughout areas of my body. Should I go to the emergency room or is there something I can do to help bring my BP down? What would cause my BP to spike so sudden?
