What Causes Sudden Obstruction In Windpipe Causing Suffocation?

today I was driving and swallowed like I always do but this time something went wrong and in a split second I was gasping for air. I could not breathe and it was very scary. I thought to myself, I do not want to die. I though I was going to die. It was like my throat constricted so much no air could get in. I am just thankful I was not on the freeway. I tried desparately to gasp for the tiniest amount of air. I know what it is like now to die of suffocation. It was horrible. So, I am looking for an answer because I never want to feel like that again. ~Serene
