What Causes Sudden Sharp Pain In The Groin Area?

My mother is 82 years old and while out shopping she grabbed her right groin area and complained of sharp, persistent pain. We left the store and came home. The pain has not lessed. what should we do? There was no trama to the area prior to the pain.
