What Causes Sudden Sneezing Excessively?

Hi.

My husband seems to just start sneezing and it comes from nowhere. We don't think it is hay fever and can't think of anything he is alergic to but when he starts snezing, he sneezes for a few minutes excessively and can't understand why. Please could you give us some incline as to why this would happen.
