What Causes Sudden Swelling Of Throat And Breathlessness?

my husband has had issues with his breathing over the past few weeks - 4 times so bad that he couldn t breath thru mouth or nose - brought him to his knees and he lost control of bodily functions trying to gasp for air went to urgent care - got cough med with codeine, went to reg dr got nasal steriod and pepcid ac hasn t been as bad breathing since then....but still feels like there s something in his throat - could his adam s apple swell? any ideas
