What Causes Sudden Vaginal Discharge?

ok so it's only happened a couple of times in my life but sometimes I'll get really wet, almost like I've peed myself, and then I'll race to the bathroom only to find a really long string of vaginal discharge? WHAT could cause this? It's not frequent but it is concerning
