What Causes Swelling Along With Throbbing Sensation In Head?

I want to know how the parietal foreman could be effected if my head hit something i.e. the ground and/or the driver side window...I feel the left side of my head near that spot is swollen and warm and sometimes throbs...had a car accident and a slip and fall in December of 2012.
