What Causes Swelling And Cramps In Calf Muscle?

Two mornings ago I had a very severe cramp in my calf I am 70 years ago and have probably only ever had a leg cramp once or twice in my life. Concerned it might be an evt I had an appointment immediately. He said the calf was slightly swollen and to be safe ordered a blood test. I received a phone call last night bro say could the doctor see me in an hour. However I was 150 miles away. I have now been asked to come in on Monday (the call was Friday night) late last evening the calf looked a little more swollen but no discolouration. My first question is can a leg cramp alone cause swelling my second question is should I see a doctor again or does the appointment on Monday indicate that the problem is not major
