What Causes Swelling And Dry Blotches On Cheek Area?

46yrs old, male, 5'8", 150 pounds. unexplained puffy area - left maxillary cheek and up left side of nose. often tingling/itching/burning. constant feeling of "something there." occasional red dry blotches. doctor says not a cyst (i've had many sebaceous cysts). Dermatologist currently thinking shingles - even though symptoms present for long time and just recently increased. also sent skin culture to lab - awaiting results.
