What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Foot Post Injury?

Hi I fell down our travel trailer stairs about a week ago, and my foot swelled on the top/side and hurt to walk on. Well now its still slightly swollen and its warm to touch and still hurts when walking or sitting on it while my legs are crossed is something broken?
