What Causes Swelling And Pain In Wrist?

Hi, I fell last night and hit into the door casing with my hand. I did trip and fall on the floor. It was extremely painful and I applied ice immediately, then heat then ice etc. It is swollen and bruised. very difficult to bend and straighten. Cannot lift anything. Last night my wrist was very painful as well, but that is btter sinceI have had a full hand brace with the steel shank, on all day.As I type, one fingered,. my wrist is hurting. How do I now whetherI should go for treatment?
