What Causes Swelling And Redness Like A Burn On Arm?

While visiting Florida I got what looked like a burn on my arm it swelled up and it peeled much like a burn would and now it is red with a light brown ring around it. Any idea why it would still be red or what might be going on? For reference we got back from Florida almost a month ago.
