What Causes Swelling And Scars Near The Area Of Hernia Surgery On Navel?

Hello, I had hernia surgery back in 2007 near my navel. I am a very big guy around 380 lbs. When I had the surgery they told me they inserted a mesh. This past week I noticed the scars near my naval and some stretch marks near the area are puffy and swollen now. What is happening?
