My wife, 54 has been suffering with severe swelling at her temples & both sides of her head, and even down her face (often causing her face to be almost numb were the swelling is). This is almost always accompanied with a moderate to severe headache. Often around one of her eyes the swelling becomes pronounced enough to cause her eye to droop She has been to 2 neurologists, and had several tests, including MRIs. One was not professional at all, and had not even looked at the MRI, but just read the findings in the report. When I asked about the swelling that was even visible on the MRI ( I had the MRI images and the results on disk – as well as quite a bit of medical background including premed classes and I taught at a nursing college.) he first said there was none. I told him I had seen it, so he then looked at the images but had no explanation. We have noticed that the swelling is related to barometric pressure changes. She also gets vertigo when things get severe. Arterial Arteritis was ruled out, and no neurological problems have been found. It seems that once those issues were ruled out, the doctors’ interest declined or disappeared completely. These symptoms have continued to get worse. The pain clinic has given her some injections at the optipical nerve (?) facets on both sides of her neck, with real relief for several months, but the last set gave her no relief. Can you please give us some direction?
