What Causes Swelling In Tailbone When Suffering From Pilonidal Cyst?

I think that I may have pilonidal cyst. A pain started 9 days ago and a subsequent swelling has started in my lower back by my tailbone. I am due to see my GP on Monday. The pain is becoming increasing worse and I seem to have started with similar pains in my buttock and front groin. Is this normal?
