What Causes Swelling In The Anal Opening?

Hello I was wiping after using the bathroom and notice swelling on the left side of anal wall. Just happen today. Also I was not wearing any underwear, could this have cause the irritation. I have had hemmoriods in the past but its only inflamed and not bleeding.
