What Causes Swollen And Painful Laryngeal Prominence?

Hi, I just came from the dr, thinking that I have a problem with my thyroid. The scan and blood test for t3 and t4 came normal. I still have the left side of the adams apple bigger than the right side and it hurts sometimes. Any idea of what that might be?.
