What Causes Swollen Area Around Raised Red Mole?

I have always had a small, flat mole on my face. Today it became raised then began to secrete a clear sticky substance. Later, when I picked at this substance, it seemed that the surface of the mole and also a hair growing from the mole came away, and it looked almost as though a small hole had been created in the skin where the mole was. More of this clear substance has seeped out. I have used a couple of antiseptic wipes on the area over the last couple of hours. The area around the mole is red and a little swollen and quite sore. Can you tell me what is wrong and what to do?
