What Causes Swollen Thigh While Suffering From Diabetes Type 2?

I am 45 years old and a type 2 diabetic. Currently I am having swelling on the outside of my thigh on the outside. This has been going on for two days and I am having serious pain. More in the night hours than the day. It seems to be worse when I m sitting and laying down.
