What Causes Tender Boil On The Armpit?

i am 41 male. a boil has formed in the left armpit region. it is quite large ,hard and tender. the base is about 1.5 inch in diametre. because of it i can not even move my left arm easily. the whole underarm region is tender. please suggest an effective cure
