What Causes Tender White Spots Inside The Nipples?

i've just recently noticed white spots inside my nipples,they were tender to touch for about a week now the pains not as intense but dots are still there i'm 37 this morning had a urine pregnancy test which resulted as negative-what are they?is this normal?can't say i've ever really noticed before
