What Causes Tenderness And Pain Behind Glands In Throat?

I have tenderness near the glands in my throat. I do not thing it is actually the glands themselves, but just behind them. It has been constant pain for 3-4 weeks. First 2-3 weeks it was on the left side, now both sides. Pain is about 4/10 and is fairly constant, hurting more at night. There does not appear to be any swelling or enlargement either. Went to Dr and CBC was "normal". Any ideas? My Dr says "don't wrooy" and sent me home.
