What Causes The Feeling Of Hard Lump In Throat?

My daughter has been pushing out big breaths of air, saying it feels like there is something stuck in her throat. (closer to her collarbone then her tonsils.)
She said it bothers her to eat hard things and has just recently started a cough. Please Help!
We do have a family history of Gerd and the disease where the spiderwebs start forming in your esophagus.
