What Causes The Penis To Bleed During Intercourse?

I am very concerned about my partners recent bleeding from his penis that occurred while we were having intercourse. We heard a pop or crack type of sound, and then when we stopped, his penis was bleeding quite severly for about 20 minutes. We went to the hospital because now whenever were trying to have sex - his penis bleeds.. There is no blood however when urinating. One doctor said he had a fractured penis, and that it was in the urithera.
