What Causes The Tongue To Develop A Dark Tinge?

My husband's tongue has a dark tinge to it as if he had been eating a very dark candy or had red wine. He has had neither of these things. I noticed it a couple of days ago. It does not hurt. He is on Coumadin and Glyberide, altace, lipitor and hydraclorathiazide.
