What Causes Throat And Adam's Apple Asymmetry?

when I swallow my neck above Adam's apple (I am female - not sure if I have Adam's apple) but in that area the cartilage or whatever it is shifts to to the right. My throat/neck is asymmetrical and not midline. Is this normal? Endocrinologist noticed it when I pointed it out, examined it with her hands and did not seem concerned. Had partial thyroidectomy three years ago for benign nodules.
