What Causes Throat Irritation,cough And Congestion?

hi doc. My mane is James. 48, Male, white. normally healthy construction worker non smoker/non drinker. Since Jan. 1, 2015. have had deep scratchy throat, cough, green mucus coughing up from lungs early in morning when I get up. congested nasal or runny nose. no fever, no diarreah in stool, no vomiting, doen't feel "flu like" but mucus and other symptoms in shest and nasal not getting any better. been 9 days now, been taking daily vitamins and cough medicine at night to keep from coughing so I can sleep. any recomeditions?
