What Causes Thumb And Index Finger Desquamation?

Hi, I have a problem with my finger..I notice that there is some desquamation and it occur only on my both thumb and index finger,no other part of my body.This happen for several years but it comes n goes. May I know what may cause this?..and does it severe?..thank you
