What Causes Tightening Pressure On Head?

I have had head pressure on the left side of my head right above my ear for the past three years on and off. It s almost like a tightening pressure when I lay down it feels like pulling. My doctor said it s probably migraine related but I don t have a headache with it. Is it something I should be concerned about?
