What Causes Trapping Of Air In Between The Neck And Shoulder?

Hi I have trapped wind on my right side between my neck and shoulder. I have taken pain killers which work for a few days but then the pain just keeps coming back. I know it will probably go soon but I would just like to know what causes it in the first place. Thank you.
